Childcare Options

Nannies offer the most flexible of childcare options, with one to one care of your children, in your own home.

A nanny will work with the family, taking responsibility for the safety and development of the children. Generally a nanny will do ‘nursery duties only’. This means they will be responsible for the children’s washing, cooking and keeping their bedrooms clean and tidy. They will provide a safe and loving environment for your child and they will plan activities that are fun and educational. They will often do school runs and help with homework too! Nannies are not responsible for doing household duties, but should clear up after themselves and the children.

Sole charge nannies should have two years plus experience.

A nanny may be qualified and/or experienced in childcare and can be live-in or live-out.

Mothers Help

A Mothers help will do all the same duties as a nanny but work along side the mother. The main difference between a nanny and a mothers help, is that a mothers help does not yet have enough experience to be left in constant sole charge of the children. They will help around the home with light household duties.

Maternity Nurse

Maternity nurses and maternity nannies offer support in all areas of infant care, especially feeding and sleep routines. The main focus for the maternity nurse is the well-being and care of the mother and newborn.

Maternity nurses generally live in and are on call 24 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. They are usually employed for several weeks, following the birth of your baby.

Nanny Share

Two families get together to share a nanny, which helps reduce the cost of having a nanny. Ideal if you are only looking for a few days or hours a week.
